Bonne Bouche Goat Cheese

This weekend, some friends and I took a little road trip up to Vermont.  We stayed at an adorable little bed and breakfast in New Hampshire, just over the Vermont border.  Being that I was not the only cheese lover in the group, our first stop was naturally to the nearby Grafton Village Cheese Farm.

These guys specialize in cheddar and we got to sample some delicious varieties including garlic cheddar and maple smoked cheddar, all of which were delicious!  We also got to meet some of the friendly animals on the farm and watch the cheese being made.

Being the goat cheese fanatic that I am, I had to take home the Vermont Creamery Bonne Bouche goat cheese.  Why?  Because it was voted the best goat cheese in America in 2010!  This cheese is ash-ripened which intrigued me as well.  I finally tasted it last night and it was definitely a delicious and unique cheese.  It is described as having notes of fresh flowers, citrus and hazelnuts, with a sweet and mild rind.  If you are a goat cheese lover like I am, I would recommend ordering some of this online.  While we were there, I also picked up a jar of Lyman’s Pickled Garlic.

I am still brainstorming ideas for recipes to incorporate this into.  If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear from you!
